Day 246– December 10, 2014

The Creative Coding class teaches writing for art grants. I’m surprised how similar art grants are to science grants. Both grant submissions incorporate philosophies, statements of work, timelines, and budgets. I have written many a science grant. Perhaps I can put together a few art grants.

The arts and sciences circle on the same wheel. Both can be abstractions, such as theoretical physics or conceptual art. I’m more interested in harnessing technology in creative ways. Both my science and my art require software coding and repetitive tasks, stuff I like to do.

I want to delve more into the disciplines’ intersection. Can I bring art into science, or science into art? I don’t to paint erylemeyer flasks or project the hum of cicadas, but there are many unplumbed mines worth exploring for which I have the tools.
