South Africa

At long last, because Ray won a spring sabbatical, we made it to South Africa. Ray, Ruben, Adriene, Lee, and myself boarded planes, trains, and automobiles (with about the same amount of time spent in each) for almost three weeks away. We started the trip with three quick nights in Zimbabwe at the world’s largest waterfall, Victoria Falls. One hot afternoon, we walked across the bridge into Zambia to see the other side of the falls. After a brief flight into South Africa, we set up a base for eight nights in bustling Cape Town. Instead of flying back east, we took a long luxury train trip back to Johannesburg and on into Kruger National Park for three days of driving safari and braai (barbecues) in national park huts.
