A few years ago, I stopped taking pictures at the Burning Man festival. A camera distracted from the people and presence of the event. Furthermore, although intending to shoot so much film, I often swam too tired, excited, hot, or pre-occupied to take any tourist snaps. This year, I tried every day to ride the Playa for a concerted hour on safari with a camera to capture the amazing art. I’ve never taken good night photos at Burning Man as either the dust snows the camera flash or the image blurs over long exposure. Nonetheless, during the day the Playa still preens effortlessly photogenic, making every picture one to savor.
