For my birthday weekend, I organize a trip for ten people to Yosemite National Park. So many of us cavort most weekends in San Francisco clubs that we never make it away to the mountains. We spent two late-September nights in four cabins of Housekeeping Camp. We took turns cooking massive breakfasts, sandwich lunches, and an elaborate dinner. The highlight of the trip was the hike (almost a climb) more than 3,000 feet from the valley floor up to the Glacier Point. Although rain and cold threatened all weekend, we fortunately did not get wet on our upward climb.
